Imagine calling 999 and there’s nobody to help

When you call 999 (911 or 112, etc, for my international friends!) you expect them to arrive quickly, with the best equipment, ready to help you in your time of need.

Imagine calling and nobody comes to help. No fire engines to extinguish a house fire. No ambulances to deliver lifesaving medical assistance or get you to a hospital.

Sadly, for many, this is reality.

In 2019 The Gambia Fire and Rescue Service had just six fire stations and appliances for the entire country of approximately 2.5 million people.

In September 2022, the Emergency Services Aid Charity donated 18 emergency vehicles to The Gambia, doubling their existing fleet. In 2024 we are aiming to double it again!

I am taking part in a charity drive to deliver a further 25 emergency vehicles to The Gambia, bringing life saving equipment to a greater population.

We will be driving over 3500 miles, across some of the harshest conditions (crossing the Saharan Desert!), in September 2024.

If you can donate any amount to my fundraiser, even just £1, you could help cover some of the costs involved in getting these much needed vehicles to their destination. This includes the vehicles themselves, fuel, visas, ferry tickets, etc.

Don’t worry, you’re not paying for my hotel, we’ll mostly be in tents on the side of the road!

My donation page is here, all donations go straight to the Emergency Services Aid Chairty:
